Improving Leadership Skills with Pesantren Kilat
There are a lot of ways to improve the skills of leadership and responsibility among students. One of the processes conducted by BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug is by using Pesantren Kilat, a short-term Islamic boarding school or crash course. The event, which was held for three days since February 8 to 10, 2013, took place at D’Agape Residences, Gadog, Jawa Barat.
It was fully intentional that the event was organized not at the school, but also at a place not too far from Jakarta. This is because the activities in the crash course calls for serenity, comfort, and adequate facilities to make sure all the activities can be conducted to the full extent. “The purpose of this program is to improve the understanding and religious activities of the students within the scope of daily activities and their social relationship with parents, friends, teachers and their surroundings,” Aneu Taufan Muhammad (Islamic Teacher, MS-HS), explained.
As Muslims, the students were taught to conduct religious rituals such as compulsory daily prayers, sunnah prayers, reading al-Qur’an, religious discussions and Emotional Spiritual Quotient (ESQ) seminars. All of these activities were performed to improve the skills of leadership, responsibility, and solidarity between the students. (DL)
