In order to get acquainted with each other and to strengthen relationships among students of many schools in Indonesia, BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug, in corporation with Jakarta International School (JIS) and Sinarmas World Academy (SWA), hosted the 6th annual conference of Global Issue Network Indonesia (GINDO) 2014.
The event was held on February 8th and 9th at the Multifunction Hall of BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug and had the theme “Growing, Growing, Gone”. The theme is meant to act as a warning for young people to take care of the Earth. The event, attended by over 300 participants from 17 national and international schools, aimed at looking for solutions for problems in their surroundings, such as poverty and protection of endangered species.
The GINDO Conference went a step further than a mere conference; in one session, called ‘the Passion Group’, the participants were divided into several groups, in which they chose a global issue they were interested in and discussed it. In the discussion they needed to come up with solutions to the problems.
“Hopefully, in this GINDO conference, we can help address the global issues with the young generation and remind them that the prosperity and even the preservation of the world are in their hands. The young generation should not be afraid of making changes which bring about benefits to people, no matter how small the action may be,” said Atilla Agussalam, a student of Class 11HR1. (BM)
