Our three young BINUSIAN leaders participating in the Normandy International Youth Leadership Summit (NIYLS) have begun their international leadership journey with students from more than two dozen schools around the world. After the long flight to Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris after a brief layover in Doha, Qatar, Clarissa, Zera and Tubagus spent Saturday morning and early afternoon at the Versailles Palace, their first introduction to the opulence of royal life during the reign of King Louis XIV. After the enriching cultural experience at the Versailles, they took a bus on Saturday afternoon to Le Havre, Normandy, with students from Sweden and Lithuania. On Sunday, they spent the day with their host families, immersing themselves in French life and culture as they toured various locales in Le Havre. Their leadership journey has kicked off in earnest today with the opening ceremony at Institution Saint Joseph. After a warm welcome address by Principal Guillaume Demeiller, the students participated in such fun and engaging ice breakers as a flash mob dance routine and other games to get to know one another. The day will continue with a journey to City Hall, where these young future leaders will have an opportunity to meet with the Vice Mayor and tour the city of Le Havre. Everyone is excited about the week ahead, and our three young leaders will take full advantage of the learning opportunities this week, sharing them with classmates upon their return to Jakarta at the end of the month.
