Primary Years Programme

Learning is organised through authentic, purposeful and transdisciplinary inquiries that encourage students to connect learning across subject areas rather than experiencing knowledge as isolated subjects. Students explore important concepts, consider different perspectives, and apply what they learn to situations beyond the classroom. 

The programme embeds the IB Learner Profile into daily learning, guiding students to grow as inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and caring, principled individuals with an international perspective, while feeling safe and confident enough to take risks in their learning.

Assessment is used to move learning forward. Teachers gather evidence of student understanding through observations, conversations, performances, products, reflections, and other authentic learning experiences. Students are also supported to understand what they are learning, recognise their progress, identify areas for growth, and increasingly take responsibility for their next steps. This creates a culture of assessment for learning and as learning.

The Approaches to Learning are intentionally developed across the programme, helping students become increasingly effective communicators, collaborators, researchers, thinkers, and self-managers. These skills support not only academic success but also students' ability to navigate relationships, challenges, change, and real-world situations.

Across the PYP, students are guided to take ownership of their learning, developing voice, choice, and the confidence to contribute positively to the world around them. It's the foundation of the real-world learning and student agency that defines a BINUS SCHOOL Simprug education, and by the end of the programme, students move on as independent learners, confident communicators, and capable thinkers, ready for the increased challenge of the MYP.
