DP Students of BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug Brought Honor during National STEM INNOVATION Competition 2013

BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug’s students once again brought honor to BINUS and a chance for the country to be recognized internationally. This time the achievement made during 14 hours National STEM INNOVATION Competition which was held in BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Serpong on May 2, 2013.

From the 19 teams formed, the team of Reynerd Dwi Putra (Grade 11HR2 BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug) won the first place on Business Proposal “ALPHA – MEDIC and A – CHIP”. Together with 5 other students from 5 different schools, Reynerd’s team made a business proposal which was so innovative and have impressed 8 judges from 8 different nationalities. This team will automatically  represent our country, Indonesia, to the STEM world competition against 14 countries by 13th June 2013

Also, the team of  Bagus Maulana (Grade 11HR4 BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug) won the second place about the business proposal called “EVI (Education Virtual Indonesia)”. Other students of BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug who participated on this event and showed their enthusiasm are Kevin Darmawangsa, Michael Johanes, Seung Eun Cha, Melvin Tjandra, Maximilian Tedjojuwono Putra, Yonathan Hartojo Suryadhana, Adiva nindito, Allen Johanes Suwardi.

Their success was attributed not only to the students’ knowledge and skills in STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics] but also in the application of Languages, Arts, History, Business and Economics not to mention their core experience in critical thinking, research and extra-curricular activities which overall able to support their creativity.

The Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Innovation Camp is an initiative developed through a partnership between Blackberry and Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Europe – Europe’s largest provider of entrepreneurship education programmes. The events focus on fostering young people’s problem solving and innovation skills. Students are given a specific challenge to solve within a limited period of time. The link between business and education helps students to develop skills that are relevant to the workplace and allows them to apply their academic learning in real-life.

May our students’ experience inspire all other students, regardless of level, to continue to hunger and thirst for knowledge and skills in order to maintain an innovative mind and likewise become proud achievers.
