IYLF 2016 HOSTED BY BINUS SCHOOL – DAY 1 ( OPENING CEREMONY , GROUP PRESENTATION, CULTURAL ACTIVITY )
BINUS International School Hosts IYLF 2012
“Unity in Diversity : Global Perspective from the Next Generation “
In the face of globalization, we now see in more schools the provision of an international programme; where it is important to increase the development of cultural awareness among students. These trends in the education scene serve to prepare students for the future by equipping them with the capacity to adapt to different cultural contexts and the ability to appreciate the world beyond their home countries.
This year, BINUS SCHOOL is honored to host the 8th International Young Leaders’ Forum (IYLF) 2016 with the theme “ Unity in Diversity: Global Perspective from the Next Generation”.. The event took place on November 21 – 24, 2016 on two venues: BINUS SCHOOL Simprug and BINUS SCHOOL Serpong. IYLF 2016 was attended by representatives of schools from a number of different countries, such as Suzhou Foreign Language School (China), Hwa Chong Institution (Singapore), Bugil Academy (Korea), Changshu International School (China), BINUS SCHOOL Simprug and BINUS SCHOOL Serpong (Indonesia). Each delegate has a different topic and students will be assessed as an individual as well as a part of a group. Below are the main topic from each delegate :
- BINUS SCHOOL : Gender Equality
- BUGIL Academy : Responsible Consumption and Production of Paper
- Hwa Chong Institution : Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
- Changshu International School : Reduced Inequalities
- Suzhou Foreign Language School : Life on Land
The event was officially opened on November 21, 2016 at BINUS SCHOOL Simprug by Ms. Sherrierose Garcia Gonzales as the Host School Principal and Mr.Michael W.Hadipoespito as a Managing Director of Bina Nusantara. There were also speech by Mr. Al Busyra Basnur as a Director of Public Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Indonesia and Mr.Hari Yulianto, SH, MH, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Indonesia. The opening becomes more delightful with musical performance by BINUS SCHOOL Simprug Youth Music Society and traditional dance performance by BINUS SCHOOL Serpong Elementary Dancers. On a second day, BINUS SCHOOL was also welcoming special guest from Ambassador Wisber Loeis and Mr.Dino Patti Djalal.
During the event, delegates discussed their topics in seminars, discussions, learning batik, travelled to City Council, TMII, Gedung Pancasila, and many other activities to make them excited while staying in Jakarta. Hoping by this IYLF event it will also develop new networks; and to inculcate in them a keen awareness of global issues and a strong sense of social responsibility. Furthermore, the forum will provide student leaders with the opportunity to better comprehend the decision-making processes involved in global interactions.
