PYP SPORTSFEST 2017
BINUS SCHOOL Simprug Build Children’s Character from Early Years Through “SPORTSFEST”
Jakarta, 30 November 2017 – The Binus School Simprug’s 2017 Sportsfest with the theme “Be Active, Work together and Have Fun,” opens today, at 7 a.m., at PTIK Stadion Olah Raga, Jl. Tirtayasa No.6, RT.9/RW.4, Melawai Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta Selatan, DKI Jakarta 12160
The event aims to encourage students to be physically active, have fun, learn to positively interact with students in their team and improve their physical skills. It also offers students opportunity to apply the theories, skills and strategies learned in their Physical Education classes and challenge themselves to be caring, communicators, thinkers, balanced, risk-takers, and reflective players. It provides an avenue for the students to demonstrate positive attitudes such as confidence, cooperation, respect, tolerance, enthusiasm, independence as well as self-discipline and sportsmanship.
Binus School Simprug’s Principal Peter Saidi together with the PYP coordinator, Richel Langit Dursin will give a welcome message and will formally declare the opening of the event.
Highlights of the ceremonies are the parade of teams, team dance competition, oath of sportsmanship and the most awaited torch relay.
There will be several activities in this event such as sprinting, bean bag throwing, modified shot put, modified discus throw, ultimate Frisbee game, basketball, futsal, and baton relay for elementary students and sprinting, ball throwing, bean bag balancing, relays and ball kicking for early years students.
Ronald San Juan as a Physical Education Teacher of BINUS SCHOOL Simprug says “Having our students play organized games can make them stay active while having fun too. From my personal experience, I feel that getting them involved in this kind of activity helps them to de-stress from classes and homework. I am a big believer also that participating in organized sports—like school sportsfest—can teach values and life lessons that our students can use in their childhood years and beyond “.
He also hopes that this event will be successful, fun and memorable one for all.
