Kontribusi Siswi BINUS SCHOOL Simprug Tentang Dampak Kelelahan Fisik Berdasarkan Parameter Dasar Suara

Kondisi kelelahan fisik dapat menyebabkan dampak bagi diri sendiri maupun orang lain. Dampak kelelahan fisik pun dapat berakibat krusial salah satunya di dalam penerbangan. Namun hal tersebut dapat diantisipasi melalui suara sebagai deteksi dini sebelum perawatan lebih lanjut. Langkah seperti demikian tentunya dapat menyelamatkan seseorang dari kejadian yang tidak diinginkan. Karena fenomena inilah mengundang keingintahuan tiga siswa kelas 12 BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, yaitu Chiara Amanda Santoso, Danniella Jasmine Soetandi, dan Raeya Rajiv Savur sehingga mereka melakukan penelitian lebih lanjut.

Tiga siswi tersebut meneliti metode deteksi kelelahan pada pilot pesawat dan astronot melalui analisis suara pada kokpit pesawat. Atas penelitian ini, Chiara, Daniella, dan Raeya diundang secara khusus untuk mempresentasikan penelitian mereka di International Conference of Aerospace Medicine (ICAM 2022) yang diselenggarakan pada 22—24 September 2022 di Paris, Prancis. Konferensi ini merupakan konferensi internasional kedokteran penerbangan pertama dan dihadiri oleh masyarakat sipil dan ahli militer yang memiliki spesialisasi di bidang kedokteran penerbangan serta kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja.

Chiara, Daniella, dan Raeya adalah siswa SMA Indonesia pertama yang diundang ke konferensi ini. Hasil presentasi mereka pun menarik banyak minat dan pertanyaan yang diajukan selama presentasi maupun di luar jam presentasi. Ini karena hasil penelitian yang dilakukan oleh tiga siswi BINUS SCHOOL Simprug memiliki dampak terutama dalam keselamatan penumpang pesawat, awak pesawat, dan bahkan astronot.

Mereka memaparkan hasil penelitian bertajuk “Effect of Physical Exhaustion on Basic Parameters of Voice.” Chiara, Daniella, dan Raeya selama penelitian dan presentasi didampingi oleh Dr. Rinda Hedwig sebagai Research Interest Group Leader BINUS Kampus Anggrek, dan Dr. Savita Sondhi sebagai MYP Mathematics Teacher BINUS SCHOOL Simprug.

“Sangat bersyukur, saya dan kedua rekan mendapat kesempatan untuk memaparkan hasil penelitian kami di depan para ilmuwan dan ahli dalam kancah internasional. Hal ini tidak lepas dari bimbingan Dr. Rinda dan Dr. Savita sehingga kami dapat menyelesaikan penelitian ini dengan baik,” tutur Chiara, salah satu siswi yang menyampaikan antusiasmenya.

Peran Dr. Savita Sondhi dan Dr. Rinda Hedwig juga penting dalam “menerbangkan” ketiga siswa BINUS SCHOOL Simprug tersebut. Selama 10 bulan, mereka bekerja sama untuk membuat penelitian ini.

“Mereka akan menjadi siswa SMA pertama dari BINUS yang mempresentasikan hasil penelitiannya di konferensi internasional dalam level ini. Sebagai guru, saya sangat puas melihat bagaimana mereka berkolaborasi, mengajar satu sama lain, dan secara konsisten memberikan hasil berkualitas tinggi dalam beberapa jam setelah penugasan. Mereka fokus, bertekad, dan berusaha semaksimal mungkin untuk mewakili BINUS di ICAM22,” jelas Dr. Savita Sondhi.

Dr. Savita Sondhi ingin terus berperan dalam mewakili BINUS dalam bidang penelitian dan pengembangan. Baginya, penelitian adalah fondasi pertumbuhan setiap negara. Dengan pencapaian ini, BINUSIAN akan terinspirasi untuk menggali potensi mereka dan memperluas pengetahuan mereka yang kelak akan membawa kontribusi besar pada masyarakat.

BINUS SCHOOL Simprug berkomitmen mendorong siswa-siswinya untuk bereksplorasi dalam bidang ilmu yang mereka minati. Salah satu wadahnya adalah dengan melakukan penelitian guna mendapatkan pemahaman yang baru atau pengembangan dari pengetahuan yang sudah ada sebelumnya.

BINUS SCHOOL Simprug Students’ Collaboration about Effect of Physical Exhaustion on Basic Parameters of Voice

Physical exhaustion conditions can have an impact on oneself and others. The impact of physical fatigue can have crucial consequences, one of which is in aerospace. However, this can be anticipated through analyzing voice as an early detection before further treatment. Such a step can certainly save someone from unwanted events. Because of this phenomenon, three 12th grade students of BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, namely Chiara Amanda Santoso, Danniella Jasmine Soetandi, and Raeya Rajiv Savur, were curious about this, so they conducted further research.

The three students investigated exhaustion detection method for airplane pilots and astronauts through sound analysis in the airplane cockpit. Because of this research, Chiara, Daniella, and Raeya were specially invited to present it at the International Conference of Aerospace Medicine (ICAM 2022) which was held from 22-24 September 2022 in Paris, France. This conference was the first international aerospace medicine conference and was attended by civil society and military experts who specialize in aerospace medicine and occupational health and safety.

Chiara, Daniella, and Raeya were the first Indonesian high school students invited to this conference. The results of their presentations also attracted a lot of interest and questions during and outside of presentation hours. This is because the results of research conducted by these three BINUS SCHOOL Simprug students have a good potential impact, especially on the safety of airplane passengers, flight crews, and even astronauts.

They presented the results of a study entitled “Effect of Physical Exhaustion on Basic Parameters of Voice.” Chiara, Daniella, and Raeya during the research and presentation were accompanied by Dr. Rinda Hedwig as Research Interest Group Leader of BINUS Campus Anggrek, and Dr. Savita Sondhi as MYP Mathematics Teacher at BINUS SCHOOL Simprug.

“I am very grateful that my colleagues and I had the opportunity to present the results of our research in front of scientists and experts in an international arena. This cannot be separated from the guidance of Dr. Rinda and Dr. Savita so that we can complete this research well,” said Chiara, one of the students who expressed her enthusiasm.

The role of Dr. Savita Sondhi and Dr. Rinda Hedwig was also important in “flying” the three BINUS SCHOOL Simprug students. For 10 months, they worked together to make this study.

“They will be the first high school students from BINUS to present their research results at an international conference at this level. As a teacher, I am very satisfied to see how they collaborate, teach each other, and consistently deliver high quality results within hours of assignment. They are focused, determined, and try their best to represent BINUS at ICAM22,” explained Dr. Savita Sondhi.

Dr. Savita Sondhi wants to continue to play a role in representing BINUS in the field of research and development. For her, research is the foundation of every country’s growth. With this achievement, BINUSIAN will be inspired to explore their potential and expand their knowledge which will later bring great contribution to society.
