Following the international school principles of the IB Programme, BINUS SCHOOL Simprug always aspires to create better communities by giving its students meaningful experiences. To achieve this goal, the school provides a number of extracurricular activities and student clubs, with the Culturific Club being one of them.
Despite being an international school in Jakarta, BINUS SCHOOL Simprug still aims to present the wonders of Indonesian culture through the Culturific Club. Under the guidance of Ms. Elsya Simamora as the supervisor, the club practices and performs various Indonesian traditional dances. Culturific Club also actively participates in various local and international events.
This student club recently represented Indonesia in the International Dance and Arts Festival, which took place in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary.

While serving as the representation of an international school in Jakarta, BINUS SCHOOL Simprug’s Culturific Club delightfully performed three different dances during the festival. The dances include Tari Bajidor Kahot, Tari Kreasi Nusantara, and Tari Ratoh Jaroe.
Bajidor Kahot and Ratoh Jaroe are Indonesian traditional dances originating from West Java and Aceh Province, respectively. Meanwhile, Tari Kreasi Nusantara combines several traditional choreographies representing the diversity of Indonesian dance performances.
Adna, a member of the Culturific Club, stated that participating in this event was fun for her and the whole club. She expressed her gratitude for the many new friends she met during the event who came from different cultures.
All in all, the International Dance and Arts Festival was truly a wonderful opportunity for the members of BINUS SCHOOL Simprug’s Culturific Club. In only a few days, the members successfully introduced the diversity of Indonesian culture and learned about other countries’ cultural values.
This event also encouraged personal growth for each member. In addition to performing the traditional dances as a group, each member took their chance to personally meet a lot of interesting and talented people from other participating countries. It perfectly represents the students’ values of this international school, which is to foster and empower society while building the nation.
