BUZZ MUN 2025 Returns! Empowering Young Minds to Tackle Global Challenges

The stage is set, the gavels are ready, and the delegates are primed for two days of intense debate. BUZZ MUN 2025 returns on 1–2 February, once again hosted by BINUS SCHOOL Simprug. It will bring together some of Jakarta’s brightest young minds to engage in high-level discussions on some of the most pressing global issues.

This year’s theme, “Navigating Justice, Labour, and Governance in a Changing World”, challenges participants to think critically, argue persuasively, and negotiate solutions that reflect the complexities of international relations.

Where Diplomacy Meets Real-World Challenges

BUZZ MUN is no ordinary conference. It is an intellectual battlefield where students step into the shoes of world leaders, judges, and policymakers to tackle global issues that shape our future. Each council presents a different challenge, demanding strategic thinking, strong argumentation, and quick-witted diplomacy.

This year’s councils cover some of the most urgent international matters. The ICJ deliberates on the Gambia vs. Myanmar case, where delegates examine the legal ramifications of human rights violations and genocide allegations.

In the UNHRC, the humanitarian crisis in Sudan takes centre stage, forcing delegates to navigate complex discussions on sovereignty, refugee protection, and international intervention.

Meanwhile, the ILO Council debates one of the most pressing issues of the modern workforce: artificial intelligence’s impact on job security and labour ethics. The DPR Council tackles the political instability following the G30S movement, dissecting its national security and governance implications.

Over in UNESCO, delegates debate the controversial question of returning stolen artefacts to their countries of origin, balancing historical justice with museum preservation.

A Stage for Future Leaders

For first-time participants, BUZZ MUN is an eye-opening journey into the complexities of global diplomacy. One delegate, entering the ICJ for the first time, quickly found herself immersed in rigorous legal debates.

Working alongside judges and advocates, she was challenged to analyse legal precedents, present compelling arguments, and ultimately contribute to the case verdict. The experience gave her a newfound appreciation for the role of international law in holding nations accountable.

In the DPR Council, where debates unfolded with fiery intensity, delegates engaged in heated discussions on political stability and governance. Every argument was met with a counterargument, and every policy was fiercely defended. Anabelle from UPH College, who took part in the DPR, described the experience as exhilarating:

“This is one of the best MUN experiences I have ever had. It was very exciting, and the arguments were loud and clear.”

From the legal intensity of the ICJ to the fast-paced parliamentary debates in DPR, BUZZ MUN ensures that every delegate, regardless of experience, is pushed to their limits.

Debates That Shape Perspectives

From the moment the opening ceremony concluded, the councils sprang to life. The ICJ Council was engrossed in legal arguments, dissecting evidence and international treaties to determine Myanmar’s responsibility in the case presented by Gambia.

Delegates in UNHRC worked tirelessly to propose solutions for the Sudanese humanitarian crisis, debating intervention strategies while considering the delicate balance between human rights and state sovereignty.

In the ILO, students explored AI automation’s ethical and economic consequences, clashing over policies that could protect workers while allowing technological progress. Over in UNESCO, cultural heritage took centre stage as representatives weighed the moral and legal complexities of repatriating stolen artefacts—an issue that has sparked international controversy for decades.

Meanwhile, the DPR Council witnessed passionate speeches on Indonesia’s political history, as delegates argued over the legacy of G30S and the policies needed to ensure national stability. The room was filled with sharp rebuttals and strategic alliances, reflecting the reality of real-world legislative debates.

Beyond the Conference Room

While the debates were intense, BUZZ MUN was also a celebration of diplomacy, critical thinking, and cross-cultural connections. Delegates not only sharpened their public speaking and negotiation skills but also formed friendships with students from schools across Jakarta. The event was a testament to how young minds, when given the platform, can engage in meaningful discussions that mirror the complexities of real-world governance.

As BUZZ MUN 2025 comes to an end, its impact remains. Delegates leave the conference not just with new knowledge, but with a deeper understanding of diplomacy, governance, and global responsibility. With another successful year in the books, one thing is certain.

BUZZ MUN will continue to be a stage where future leaders are forged. The only question left is: who will take on the challenge next?
