Clarissa’s Journey of Self-Discovery Through Creativity
What began as simple childhood curiosity gradually became a journey of self-discovery for Clarissa, leading her to be invited into the Young Artist Network during her time in EY3. Through creativity, she found not only a passion for art, but also a deeper understanding of who she is, how she expresses herself, and who she hopes to become in the future. At BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, we believe meaningful learning journeys are shaped through opportunities that encourage students to explore their interests, discover their voice, and grow with confidence beyond the classroom.
Where Her Creativity First Began
For Clarissa, creativity became one of the ways she began discovering herself. Long before painting became a deeper passion, she described herself as “a curious and excitable child.” Her love for art began through simple yet meaningful moments at home, where she and her brother shared a creative wall to freely draw and explore their imagination. One memory that stayed with her was when she was only two years old, picking up her brother’s crayons from the floor and beginning to draw, feeling a sense of happiness and excitement in the process.
As her passion continued to grow, BINUS SCHOOL Simprug provided meaningful opportunities that allowed her creativity to develop further. One of the important milestones in her journey was being invited to join the Young Artist Network during her time in EY3, where she had the opportunity to participate in various art projects and explore her creativity in a more purposeful way. These experiences became more than opportunities to practice artistic skills; they also encouraged her to grow in confidence, curiosity, and self-expression over time.
Behind every meaningful student journey is also a strong support system. Along the way, guidance from our teachers such as Ms. Zaida and Ms. Ariane, combined with the continuous encouragement from her parents, helped nurture both her creativity and personal growth. At BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, we believe that supportive mentorship and meaningful relationships play an essential role in helping students feel seen, valued, and empowered to continue exploring their potential.
Creativity as a Journey of Self-Discovery
Through painting, Clarissa discovered lessons that extended far beyond art itself. She learned patience, perseverance, and the importance of trusting the process. More importantly, creativity became a space for her to better understand herself and confidently express her ideas and emotions. As Clarissa shared,
“Art forces me to learn more about myself so I can better express my ideas and feelings.”
Today, Clarissa aspires to become a driving force in the creative business industry and hopes to further explore digital art and business moving forward. Her journey reflects how meaningful opportunities and a supportive learning environment can help students transform their passions into purposeful future aspirations. We aim to nurture learners who are not only academically prepared, but also confident in themselves and inspired for the future ahead.
