The Learning Journey Behind Our Students’ WMI Achievement
Recognized among the top 30% of students at their grade level based on country rank, BINUS School Simprug students earned Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards at the World Mathematics Invitational Preliminary Round. This achievement reflects more than strong competition results. It highlights how purposeful teaching can help students develop analytical thinking, confidence, and readiness beyond the classroom.
At BINUS School Simprug, Mathematics learning is not approached as a one-size-fits-all process. Through the Mathematics Department, students are guided according to their learning needs, academic stage, and problem-solving development.
Achievement That Reflects Quality Teaching
As part of their WMI preparation, students joined Mathematics sessions once a week for five weeks. These sessions helped them strengthen their understanding, practise higher-level problem-solving, and become more familiar with competition-style questions.

Competing in an academic setting such as WMI requires more than memorizing formulas. Students need to analyze questions carefully, apply strategies, manage challenges, and stay focused throughout the process. Their achievement reflects a guided learning process that strengthened both reasoning and readiness.
Teaching That Understands Each Learner
Behind this achievement is a teaching approach that values how each student learns. Our Mathematics teachers understand that students may have different levels of readiness, confidence, and conceptual understanding. This is why knowing the students becomes an essential part of teaching.
With dedicated Mathematics teachers teaching according to grade levels, students receive guidance that is relevant to their stage of learning. This structure allows the Mathematics Department to provide support that is focused, flexible, and responsive to students’ progress.
By being flexible and open-minded, teachers are able to adjust their approach based on students’ needs. In Mathematics, this means helping students not only find the correct answer, but also understand the thinking process behind it.
From Guided Learning to Meaningful Achievement
The success of our students at WMI shows that achievement is shaped by both student effort and the quality of teaching behind it. Their Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards are proud milestones, supported by our learning environment that helps students think deeper, grow stronger, and approach challenges with confidence.
