Teacher’s Spotlight: Elisabeth Tan Yanti

Hello everyone, I’m Ms. Elisabeth Tan Yanti and I have been teaching in Binus School Simprug
for 21 years. My teaching journey in BINUS SCHOOL Simprug started in 2002 as an English teacher and I still do at present . I also had an opportunity to be part of the Affective team as a Class Head from 2007 to 2009 and 2017-2021. My viewpoint about education and teaching started to change when I began a new role as the MYP Service as Action coordinator since 2021 as I have been able to lead our young students to experience learning outside classroom to make a difference in the community. It has been a fulfilling experience to impart knowledge and guide students
throughout my service in BINUS SCHOOL Simprug.

Recently, I have been awarded the best employee. Thank you to all colleagues for their kind support .As a life-long learner, being a teacher means having opportunities to learn even more from students. They always give me positive energy and enthusiasm inside and outside classrooms. I do believe that “ there is no growth in the comfort zone, there is no comfort in the growth zone. Thus, learning will lead us to personal growth as an individual.

BINUS SCHOOL Simprug has a lot of great potentials. I have been grateful for having worked together with students of MUN, GIN, and Sahabat Binus. They have brought positive impacts to their community. It is, indeed, a privilege to be a teacher who recommended our IB Global Youth
Action Fund awardees, namely Bersama Untuk Bangsa ( Class of 2026 ) and River Rebirth (2025 ) . The whole experience has made a complete sense for me as an educator. Students may only be 30 percent of the population but they are 100 percent of the future. Let’s always support our students to be the best they can be.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the dearest BINUS Simprug Community ( Excom, Colleagues , Parents and Students) throughout my journey as an educator. I cannot thank them enough for their unwavering support and encouragement . Thank you for providing me with this incredible opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young minds and contribute to the betterment of society.”

1. Postgraduate in Applied Linguistics at Atma Jaya University, Jakarta.
2. 2019-2022: Presenter at IB Dunia forum.
3. 2021: Completed IB Virtual Workshop (English Language Acquisition): category 3.
4. 2022: Completed IB Virtual Workshop (Agency, Action, Service): category 3.
5. 2023: Best employee award from Binus.
6. 2023: Accepted into the Global Schools Program at the UN Sustainable Development
Solutions Network.

Experiences:
1. 2007-2009: Class Head of Class of 2013.
2. 2008: Led an immersion trip (Class of 2013) to Jogja.
3. 2017-2021: Class Head of Class of 2024.
4. 2019: Led an immersion trip (Class of 2024) to Jogja.
5. 2021-present: MYP Service as Action Coordinator.
6. 2004: Chaperoned 2004 TVRI English competition winners to London and Oxford.
7. 2019: Chaperoned for WSC Global Round and Yale.
