From Dreams to Futures: BINUS SCHOOL Simprug’s Career Aspiration Day Connects Students with Their Potential
Early exposure to career options is crucial for young students in navigating their futures and achieving both personal and career satisfaction and success. The opportunity to have career guidance from an early stage helps students develop their self-awareness and relevant skills. It will certainly help to optimize their academic performance and pave an aligned path toward their aspiration.
Our school demonstrates a commitment to help students shape their career aspirations through the annual Career Aspiration Day. This event blends unique activities and impactful career exploration programs to inform and ignite their passion for the unfolding future. Exploring Inspirational Career Aspirations
On Career Aspiration Day 2024, BINUS SCHOOL Simprug provided career field workshops for Grades 6 through 9, ranging from medicine, law, arts, engineering, architecture, and business.
Their participation in those workshop sessions allowed them to delve deeper into each career field. During the workshop, students interacted with speakers to gain insights and actively participated in hands-on simulations, experiencing tasks relevant to each career path.
For instance, in the medicine career workshop, some students took part as patients, and some others rolled up as medical physicians and worked on first aid. Meanwhile, in architecture workshops, students explored structural designs using craft sticks.
The short explanation and hands-on simulation gave students valuable insights into each field’s dynamic and a glimpse at the world of work.
Our MS & HS Journey Coordinator, Patrick Laughlin, stated that this unique event aimed to assist students in learning and discovering various career aspirations, encouraging them to prepare for their future.
Transformative Workshops: Enrichment and Community
Beyond career workshops, Career Aspiration Day 2024 also emphasized both personal growth and social responsibility through enriching sessions.
- Blood drive: By actively contributing to the blood drive, our school educated our BINUSIAN about the significant impact of blood donations on the community.
- Fashion show: showcasing the most recent fashion styles and trends while highlighting potential careers in the fashion industry, such as design, styling, and modeling, to explore their creative potential entertainingly and engagingly.
As students are the primary target of this inspiring event, we also conceived that parents hold a prominent investment in guiding them to their success. Their support and involvement are indispensable and crucial in each stage of their children’s step, particularly in their continuous growth.
Thus, our school also conducted a dedicated workshop for parents. This particular parents’ session aimed to equip parents with the knowledge and strategy to nurture their children’s academic journey and career trajectory and establish a favorable learning and growing atmosphere.
We expected that this workshop would enable parents to encourage students’ positive attitudes toward their academic school life and better understand educational requirements. This will raise students’ self-esteem and impact how their children make informed decisions for their future.
On top of that, having parents as their discussion buddies regarding the future will also facilitate students in developing essential skills, such as problem-solving, communication, self-discipline, and critical thinking.

As part of our “Journeys” program, Career Aspiration Day offers a well-rounded approach to career exploration, blending practical and creative learning experiences approaches for students and parents.
By providing career guidance ahead of students’ academic quests, they could define their passion and purpose, set and engage with their commitment, and make resourceful decisions toward their future careers.
