BINUS SCHOOL Simprug Unites Canvas of Creativity: Confluence and Seribu Warna Art Exhibition

Artistic expression flourishes in countless forms, each capable of enriching our environment with engagement, inclusivity, and personal expression, which are feelings often experienced within the vibrant atmosphere of an art exhibition. Embracing a philosophy of holistic and hands-on education, BINUS SCHOOL Simprug actively cultivates this dynamic within its community.

As a central hub and nurturer of creativity across all grade levels, the school proudly presents the “Seribu Warna” exhibition from PYP and MYP students, alongside “Confluence,” featuring the innovative works of our IBDP Design students.

These exhibitions, nurtured by collaborative efforts, showcased the importance of self-reflection, critical thinking, and individuality as core values that BINUS SCHOOL Simprug champions to foster the personal growth of every student.

BINUS SCHOOL Simprug initiated the Seribu Warna Art Exhibition to celebrate the creative milestones and artworks of our PYP and MYP students.  True to its name, this art exhibition displayed a diverse spectrum of art crafts, including paper craft, paintings, and pottery, presenting a colourful and lively artistic atmosphere that reflected the unique perspective of our young learners.

One of our aspiring artists, Anella from Grade 9, expressed her joy in honing her artistic side and showcasing the creation of her ingenuity through this special event.

She successfully interpreted her reflection of the main theme on individuality and self-reflection, drawing inspiration from her daily experience into perspective drawing, intricate pottery, and crafts, utilising innovative techniques of print machines.

“These pieces reflect not only the skills I have honed over the years, but also the inspiring process of translating our everyday experiences into the art,” she explained.

Anella shared her deep gratitude for the invaluable support from BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, especially Ms. Evi, who has provided for her and her peers along their artistic journey.

Confluence, The Incubator of Inclusive Vision

While Seribu Warna sparked the vibrant young imaginations, our IBDP Art Exhibition 2025 delved into a more complex vision. Our grade 12 IBDP Students brought their diverse ideas, styles, and approaches to the theme related to life stage, representing a rich culmination of their artistic journeys.

Jessica chose to follow the theme of nostalgia and the fear of growing up, highlighting her reflections in a digital series called ‘What Happened to You?’. Each of her digital drawings featured a character confronting their younger self, a figure embodying past hope and ambition, often depicted with symbols of childhood dreams. In contrast, the grown-up versions presented starkly different figures, perhaps hinting at the weight of reality or unfulfilled aspirations.

She underlined, ” This series is actually exploring the fragility of childhood dreams and the weight of growing up.”, powerfully reflecting the depth of her thematic exploration.

Sophia, the Head of the Art Exhibition Committee, offered another perspective, capturing a more general vision of human fragility.

“My own personal theme for this exhibition was Moments of Human Frailty. I showed through my artworks how our most fragile moments of us being human are unavoidable and they shouldn’t be hidden away.”, she explained. Sophia’s artworks were a compelling combination of hand-drawn paintings with crafts utilising yarns, boxes, and family pictures, adding a personal and tactile dimension to her exploration.

Both expressed their gratitude for the chance and hard work of BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, and the unwavering support of their arts teacher, Mr. Raden Ricky, their family, and peers throughout the entire process.

The diverse vision, style, and approaches executed by the IBDP students in their art exhibition embodied a masterful blend of their artistic skills, conceptual thinking, and personal expression. This creative experience has undoubtedly enriched their problem-solving and critical thinking capability, which BINUS SCHOOL Simprug encourages through all activities.

Across PYP, MYP, and IBDP, BINUS SCHOOL Simprug values creative explorations, encouraging self-awareness and expression, and integrating them with soft skills in innovation and critical thinking.

Seribu Warna and Confluence Art Exhibitions showcased both our students’ personal growth and skills development. These dedicated events also nurtured their sense of individuality, which contributes to improving their realistic self-confidence, diverse perspectives of their experiences and surroundings, and deeper understanding of the world and the roles they play within it.

This enriching journey won’t be as incredible without our school’s community’s collective and precious support, notably from Ms. Evi and Mr. Ricky.

To our end, BINUS SCHOOL Simprug will continuously provide support to empower artistic talent to facilitate students discovering a new horizon and shape well-rounded individuals ready to reinforce our nation’s future with holistic education and a personalised approach.
