BINUS SCHOOL Simprug Grade 6 Prodigies turned problems into solutions with Face Recognition Attendance Application

At BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, innovation is not just a subject, it’s a mindset nurtured from an early age. Two remarkable Grade 6 students, Cedric and Anderson from the Class of 2032, have proven just how far curiosity and determination can take young learners.
Their journey began in Grade 5 when they witnessed a common problem faced by their friends at school. Many students, especially in the morning, forgot to bring their school IDs for attendance checks. Determined to solve this issue, Cedric and Anderson envisioned a faster, more efficient way to take attendance, and thus, the Face Recognition Attendance App was born.
This project combines creativity, problem-solving, and real-world application of artificial intelligence. What began as a simple idea to make attendance faster and more efficient soon evolved into a fully functioning prototype.
Guided by Mr. Albert and inspired by the AI Club initiative at BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, Cedric and Anderson learned how machine learning algorithms can recognize faces and match them to stored profiles. Through consistent coding practice, testing, and refinement, they turned classroom learning into a tangible innovation that could one day be used in schools worldwide.
This project reflects BINUS SCHOOL Simprug’s commitment to future-ready learning, equipping students not just with knowledge but also with the skills, confidence, and global mindset to make a difference in the world.
We are incredibly proud to see our students leading the way in AI and machine learning at such a young age. Their work is a testament to what can happen when passion meets opportunity in the right learning environment.
