From Classroom to Real-Life Discoveries: EY2 Visit to Agriyaponik
What happens when class lessons suddenly becomes real?
For our EY2 students, the journey began with exploring plants and living things in the classroom. They learned how plants grow, what they need to survive, and how living things are connected to the world around them. But instead of stopping at understanding, we brought that learning into something they could experience directly.
That’s when the journey continued beyond the classroom.
At Agriyaponik, students stepped into a space where everything they had been learning started to come to life. They observed how soybeans grow, saw the different stages of plant development, and discovered how these plants are transformed into foods they recognize, like tofu and soy milk.
With the guidance of our teachers and the learning experiences we created, students were encouraged to explore actively. They asked questions, observed closely, and connected what they saw with what they had learned in class. What was once just a concept became something they could see, touch, and understand.
As they followed the journey of soybeans from planting to production, something began to shift. Students started to realize that plants are not just something they learn about, but are part of everyday life. The food they eat, the environment around them, and the living things they study are all connected.
What makes this experience different is how our students learn through the IB PYP approach. Instead of only listening or memorizing, they are encouraged to ask questions, explore, and discover things for themselves. With our teachers guiding the process, students actively build their own understanding through real experiences, turning learning into something they do, not just something they receive.
Along the way, we saw their curiosity grow into awareness. They became more thoughtful, more observant, and more engaged with the world around them. Learning was no longer just something they heard, it became something they experienced.
